Professor Wu has always been in the forefront of musical exploration. Her music education model is the “Three-in-one” bel canto, folk singing and Chinese traditional opera. It is highly regarded in China. Because she established the major of Vocality Teaching Reform and National Opera she was awarded National Outstanding Teaching Achievement Award.

At present her main focus is nurturing actors in opera and musical drama by using the method of “three-in-one”. In 2008, her experimental drama, Chinese Butterfly, was the only drama which was selected among universities in Henan. It gained Excellent Drama Award, Excellent Organization Award and Campus Theater Star granted by the Ministry of Education. This drama also won high praise from the experts of China Art Research Association, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, China National Opera House, Shanghai Opera House, the Academy of Opera of Peking University, Capital Normal University and so on.

During her half-century teaching experience, she has cultivated a large number of terrific actors who have made great contributions to the development of the music undertakings in Henan. Even though now she is in her seventies, she still gives lectures to students and never quits. She also does what she can to help every student to solve problems, and currently funds the education of four students who have financial problems.

In order to better spread Professor Wu’s fruit, Sias founded Wu Xiuzhi Research Institute for Opera and Music Drama at the beginning of 2009.
