Sias holds International Nurses Day celebrations
Monday, May 14 – On the 12th of May, Sias International University's School of Nursing celebrated International Nurses Day. The chief guests for the event were International Florence Nightingale Medal winner (the most prestigious international award for nurses), Song Jing, the Vice President of International Affairs at Hanyang University in South Korea, Li Jijing, and the Director of the Xinzheng People's Municipal Hospital, Zhang Weiping. The Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, Executive Vice President, Dong Qiming, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, and Sias Proctor, Han Xiaoai, were present, among other university leaders. In addition to the dignitaries, over 1,000 teachers and students from Sias' School of Nursing attended the function. The Party Secretary of the School of Nursing, Luo Hongqun, presided over the event.
A video of former students of Sias' School of Nursing was shown to the audience. Executive Vice President, Dong Qiming, delivered a speech and thanked the teachers and students present. He encouraged those present to remember their oaths and mission, and to innovate in their field. He also encouraged them to emulate the selfless devotion and contribution of Florence Nightingale to the field of nursing.
The Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, wished the teachers and students for International Nurses Day and spoke of them as "Angels in White Coats". He praised the field of nursing and encouraged them to continue to contribute to the development of Sias.
Song Jing, winner at the 45th International Florence Nightingale Medal Awards, shared her personal experiences in the field of nursing, including inspirational stories of rescuing patients. The Director of the Xinzheng People's Municipal Hospital, Zhang Weiping, also shared her experiences and encouraged the teachers and students to wholeheartedly contribute to the profession.
The Dean of the School of Nursing, Bai Qin, thanked the guests for attending the celebration, and congratulated the teachers and students who had won awards in the past year. She then spoke about the life and deeds of Florence Nightingale. She encouraged the students to remember their oaths, and to strive to be an ideal, objective, and energetic guardian of human life.
After the speeches, there was an awards ceremony for students, followed by the recitation of the Nurse's Oath by those present. The day's events closed with performances and songs by students from the School of Nursing.
